Special thanks to Mr. Vili Ieru of Vision CD & Video World, New Zealand, Director of the “Toe fo’i Tama i Savai’i”. A Samoa Movie about a young man (Vili) from Savaii who married a girl (Elenor) from Upolu who realized how tough it is to become a faiava, especially handling Eleanor’s Mom (Faafeai). 

In the Samoan way of saying when a male is married and stays with wife’s family. Wife’s family calls him a “Faiava”. The females are called “Nofo Tane” by the males family when married and stays with males family.

    There is some obscurity here. I’m not sure if this is due to privacy or culture. Yet. -‘Beautifu’l indeed
