Special thanks to Mr. Vili Ieru of Vision CD & Video World, New Zealand, Director of the “Toe fo’i Tama i Savai’i”. A Samoa Movie about a young man (Vili) from Savaii who married a girl (Elenor) from Upolu who realized how tough it is to become a faiava, especially handling Eleanor’s Mom (Faafeai).
In the Samoan way of saying when a male is married and stays with wife’s family. Wife’s family calls him a “Faiava”. The females are called “Nofo Tane” by the males family when married and stays with males family.
